Proven Insomnia Treatment by New York Psychiatrist

(ICD-9 # 327.00 and DSM-IV # 307.42)

Insomnia, or Sleeplessness, covers a wide range of problems. Our patients may complain of inability to fall asleep at night but then manage later as the hours pass to those who waken at outrageously early hours and cannot fall back to sleep. Some patients even claim they do not fall asleep at all at night. We do not have just one treatment such as providing a sleeping pill, but look into whether there is an underlying disease that has to be specifically treated, special psychological factors that lead to insomnia, and sometimes poor working and sleeping habits. Generally patients will do well without chronic reliance on sleeping medication. Frequently the use of hypnotherapy alone can provide needed relief.
