Proven Tics and Tremors Treatment by New York Psychiatrist Elliot Wineburg, M.D.

(ICD-9 # 333.3 and DSM-IV # 307.20) (ICD-9 # 333.1)

Tics and Tremors are muscle activities with repeated smaller and larger movements of often the fingers and hands, or lips or other bodily parts. There are a number of different causes and our initial evaluation is an examination to determine which type of basic condition is present. We have found that using biofeedback techniques gives the patient conscious ability to control these unwanted movements. One patient herself a doctor in advanced years was unwilling to go to see patients in the hospital for embarrassment and lack of pen control while filling out charts. In six sessions her symptoms were under full control as demonstrated by the initial highly erratic handwriting to a perfect signature at the end of her treatment.
